IRS Updates Guidance Plan

The Internal Revenue Service on March 12 issued an updated priority guidance plan showing the projects that have been completed since the IRS plan year began in July 2006 and the projects it intends to complete by the end of the plan year in June 2007.

The IRS added 59 new guidance projects to the original plan that was published last August. The new projects, most of which have already been completed, include guidance implementing the Pension Protection Act of 2006; an announcement of a settlement initiative for employees of foreign embassies, foreign consular offices, and international organizations in the United States; and an announcement of a settlement initiative relating to the exercise of certain stock rights.
