What is Dbriefs U?
Dbriefs U is a semester-based series of webcasts for graduate and undergraduate students,supplementing their education on tax topics through presentations by Deloitte professionals. Dbriefs U aims to expand the future tax professional talent pool by increasing tax education and highlighting tax as a preferred career option.
What is a webcast?
Webcasts are online presentations delivered to viewers over the Internet using a Web browser and media player. Topics are presented by a combination of slides and audio through computer speakers. Dbriefs U webcasts are 45-60 minutes in length and include interactive poll questions.
When can my students start viewing Dbriefs U webcasts?
All webcasts are available on demand for viewing anytime. Webcasts are available year-round and new webcasts are added at the beginning of fall and spring semesters. Browse available webcasts.
Once released, how long do new webcasts remain available?
Most webcasts remain available for at least two semesters.
How are the topics chosen?
Deloitte chooses new topics each semester based on suggestions from students and faculty.
How can I use Dbriefs U in the classroom?
Each webcast is accompanied by supplemental material specially designed to help instructors integrate the webcast into their coursework. Included are questions to help you guide in-class discussions or create quizzes, and activities that can be assigned in conjunction with the webcast.
How much does it cost to use Dbriefs U?
Nothing - the program is free to both students and faculty.
How do I tell my students about Dbriefs U?
Each semester we publish a program guide for students that describes each webcast and how to get started. Copies of this guide are available to share with your students. Learn how to order program guides for your students.
How do students register and participate?
Students should visit the Dbriefs U Web site at www.deloitte.com/us/dbriefsu to join the program and start viewing webcasts.
How will I know that my students viewed the webcasts?
Dbriefs U tracks participant attendance and poll answers. Learn more and request reporting on your students' participation.
Can my students view the webcasts in a group?
Dbriefs U no longer supports group attendance reporting. Students must advise their professor directly if they view in a group.
Is there a dial-in number for the webcast?
No. All audio and visual aspects are streamed directly over the Internet and come through your computer.
What are the minimum technical requirements to view a webcast?
Internet connection, Web browser, sound card and speakers, installed Real Player or Windows Media Player (most modern systems have these built-in), and minimum screen resolution of 1024x768.
