First Time PC Users

Before you view

Before you view a Dbriefs U webcast we recommend that you view an archive. This will help ensure an optimal viewing experience for your first webcast and should take less than three minutes to complete. While viewing a webcast, your screen should look like the image below. If it does not, please find the screen view below that most closely resembles yours and follow the steps outlined to correct the issue. You can test the results by going back to view the archive again. To begin, view the
Test Webcast now.

Above is a screen capture of your screen should appear when you watch a webcast. There are five elements you should be able to view. These elements include:

  1. A webcast agenda
  2. The main presentation slides
  3. Flash presentation
  4. Ask a Question section, with submit button
  5. Related webcast links

If you cannot fully see these five elements, please proceed through the instructions below.

If your screen looks like this, you most likely have a pop-up blocker enabled. Key characteristics of this problem are that areas 4 and 5 are missing, and you can see the address bar at the top of your screen.

Please follow these steps to temporarily disable pop-up blockers:

1. Close the test webcast window if you have not already done so.

2. Open a new Internet Explorer window.

3. Click on Tools.

4. Scroll down to “Pop-up blocker”.

5. Select “Turn off Pop-up blocker” from the menu.

6. To confirm that this is the solution, view the test webcast again.

If your screen looks like this, you most likely have to change your screen resolution. Some key indicators of this problem are areas 4 and 5 are completely missing and you can only see a portion of area 3.

Please follow these steps to adjust your screen resolution:

1. Right click anywhere on your desktop and select Properties.

2. A Display Properties window will appear. Click on the Settings tab.

3. On the lower left side of the window is a sliding scale. Move the scale to a resolution setting of 1024x768, then click "Apply" and "OK."

If you still can't view the entire screen you may need to auto-hide the start menu. Please follow these steps:

1. Right click on some blank space on the task bar at the bottom of the screen.

2. Select Properties.

3. Check the box next to auto-hide

4. Click ok.

5. Log out and then log back into the webcast.

Does your screen look like it is right, but the webcast is not playing? If so, you may have a firewall issue. Check what your test webcast says in the area circled above.

If your media player is on "Ready" or "Stopped" your firewall may not allow for streaming media. Please contact your IT group and ask them to give you access to streaming media. If they have any questions you can direct them to DbriefsU@deloitte.com .

If your media player is "Playing" then you may have your computer muted. To unmute see the "I have no sound" FAQ on our help page.
